Boys Countdown to XC Day 17: Whitney

I have to admit, Whitney snuck up on me in 2018. The Wildcats claimed the Sac Joaquin Section Division 2 title from the team I had favored, Rocklin, and they did it with just one senior in the top 7 (plus two sophomores). But that's not going to happen this year, especially not with a squad loaded with rising seniors ready to do more than finish 10th at the state meet. Depth is the biggest concern for Whitney, because after their returning top 5 from last fall there is a bit of a drop-off. Good news on that front: returning #6 Brenden Jacoby broke 10 minutes for the 3200 in the spring, one of four Wildcats to accomplish that (along with #5 Josh Tajiri, another good sign for the team's progression). With Austin Vasquez leading the way up front after a 9:15 spring season, Whitney is poised to be a top 5 team in Division 2 this fall.
