Just to be clear, placing the Eagles here is not intended to say they won't be a contender in the SJS this fall. They definitely will be a factor, and will almost certainly be better than their returning numbers - Vista Del Lago has been one of California's best teams at year-to-year improvement over the past three years. Those returning 5K times put them on the bubble for the top 30, and this is a team that doesn't go out of its way to pad its times by racing on flat, fast courses. In the end, I gave the countdown spots to teams that had demonstrated more progress in the spring, since this is a statistics-based exercise. I won't be at all surprised, however, to see Vista Del Lago right back in the championship mix in their section and at the Division 3 state meet.
