Girls
- CAROLINE GARRETT (Oakland Tech/Sr.) and ELEANOR WIKSTROM (Skyline/Jr.)
Wikstrom, a junior, posted the section's fastest times in the 400 (1:01.72), 800 (2:22.00), 1600 (5:00.33), and ran the No. 2 time for 3200 meters (10:57.17). Wikstrom (at left above) qualified for the State Meet for the second consecutive year in the 1600. She is a two-time section champion in both the 800 and 1600.
Garrett, the section's all-time leader at 3200, ran a 10:42.25 section record and PR at the Sacramento Meet of Champions and clocked her PR for 1600 of 5:00.53 at the Clash of the Titans. Garrett (above right) is a six-time section champion and qualified for the State Meet all four years, the first two in the 1600 and the last two in the 3200.
Boys
- JONATHAN SIMMONS (Skyline/So)
Simmons won the 400 in 50.08 at the Section Final and qualified for State, where he placed 21st in qualifying (49.73). Also at the section final, he was second in the 200 at 23.51 (-1.8) and anchored the winning 4x400 relay team (3:33.90). At the Clash of the Titans, a meet with more than 30 schools, Simmons won the 200 (20.95/-0.3) and the 400 (50.76). Simmons finished the season as the section leader in the 400 (49.30), second in the 800 (2:05.99), and third in both the 200 (22.93) and 1600 (4:41.70).
