D2 Boys Multiple-Event Qualifiers
Esperanza junior weight thrower Jeff Duensing is the top qualifer in the shot put.
D3 boys multiple-event qualifiers include:
- Ismail Turner (West Valley, Sr.) -- Second in both the 200 (21.58) and 400 (49.05), and anchored the 4x400 relay team that took the ninth and final qualifying spot (3:28.06).
- Anthony Grover (JSerra, Jr.) -- Herold's teammate qualified in all three distance events with the fourth-fastest 800 (1:58.84), No. 3 1600 time (4:20.92) and No. 5 3200 time (9:27.28). Grover won all three of his heats.
- Anthony Taylor (Cathedral, So.) -- First in the 110 hurdles (14.34) and second in the 300 hurdles (39.32).
- Kyle Kimble (Servite, Sr.) -- Third in the 110 hurdles (15.03) and fourth in the 300s (40.17).
- Jeff Duensing (Esperanza, Jr.) -- First in the shot put (58-02.50), third in the discus throw (161-10).
- Quinten Lyons (Notre Dame, Jr.) -- Second in both the shot put (57-02) and discus throw (166-00).
- Matthew Molina (La Canada St. Francis, Sr.) -- Second in the 110 hurdles (14.88) and qualified in the high jump.
Notes: Tianhao Wei, a junior from South Pasadena, was fifth at the State Meet finalist in the triple jump as a sophomore. He advanced in both jumps, third in the long (21-06.50) and second in the triple (45-00). ... James Smith (St. John Bosco, Jr.) also advanced in both jumps with the No. 2 mark in the long (22-02) and No. 5 mark in the triple (43-07.75).
