Since the first year it was officially contested in California, the best vaulters in the state have also ranked well in comparison to the best vaulters in the nation. The best vaulter in the state last year was Santa Catalina junor Laurel Wong. She recorded a near undefeated season and won the California state Track and Field meet. She also won the Golden West Invitational with a best mark of 13-4 which ranked her as the 5th best returning vaulter for this coming season.
