Ranking the top 20 boys teams in the Southern Section

Boys Mid-Season Southern Section Report

Great Oak continues to expand that gap between them and the rest of the state while many consider them the best team in the United States. We knew West Ranch was adding two weapons in transfers but the development of their sophomore has also made a huge difference.  We did not have Crescenta Valley in our top 15 for Division I as of August, but an incredible improvement from their supporting cast has elevated this group to a state meet team!

Loyola is now redefining the word - reloading!   We had them projected to easily make the state meet but their incredible year-to-year development now has them knocking on the door to a possible division title and perhaps, a state title!   Claremont and Newbury Park will have a lot to say about that though. ...

Palos Verdes still has another gear in them and has opened the gap more in regard to another divisional title!

On the small schools level, Laguna Beach is lights out, despite staying off the radar!  Opting to skip the Orange County Championships, they quietly elevated themselves up our charts with a 79:30 effort at the Rough Rider Invite in Fresno.  Now, keep in mind -- this is run on the same Woodward Park course that most of our ranked squads competed on the previous week at the Clovis Invitational.

On the boys' side, we are experiencing more on and off performances where looking at the numbers, most squads have not clicked on all cylinders on the same day.   So, we've had more movement within our Top 20 Southern Section squads' list, especially in the past 10 days!

Here are our Top 20 Boys' Squads in the Southern Section and a summary of their progress thus far!
