BOYS TRACK ATHLETE OF THE YEAR
Moises Medrano (Liberty) Sr. - Despite winning the Central Section title in the 800 meters for a second consecutive year and knowing that he was 3rd at the State Meet final as a junior, Medrano dropped the two-lap race for the four-lapper. In the 1600, he earned a 6th place medal (4:13.65) despite falling toward the end of the race. In the 1600, he ran a 4:13.45 PR prelims and followed that up in the final with the second-fastest time of his life. This after running a 1600 PR of 4:14.09 on May 19 as part of his 8-16 double gold at the CS finals. (No. 3 above in Louis Amestoy photo)
