Lowell's Ewe, Rodriquez Get Top San Francisco Section Honors

Here's a sampling of some of the top non-seniors in the section to watch for in the spring of 2019:

  • Jelani Al-Malik (Mission, Jr.) - Two-time City champion in the 100m, and also the 200m champion.
  • Tyrek Laurent (Mission, So.) - Two-time City champ in the 400m, running a 51.32 PR in this year's final.
  • Noah Battaglia (Lowell, Jr.) - Two-time City champ in the 3200, who ran a 9:48.90 PR in the State final.
  • Anaya Jolivette (Leadership, Fr.) - City champion in the 100m (PR 12.88/1.4); ran at State.
  • Zachary Parker (Lowell, So.) - Set a F/S meet record in the 3200 at the City finals, running 10:01.19 (he has a PR of 9:52.87).
  • Ethan Wong (Burton Academic, Jr.) - Section's No. 2 sprinter behind Al-Malik.
  • Eric Hickerson (Washington, So.) - Ran 42.84 to win the City 300 hurdles title.
  • Leo Gallegos (Lincoln, So.) - Section's top returning thrower with a best of 48-03.75 in the shot and 132-01.50 in the discus
  • Eugene Larios-Felton (Lincoln, Jr.) - A State Prelims qualifier in the discus with a best of 144-10.
  • Emi Steedman (Lowell, So.) - No. 2 in the section in the 1600 (5:41.32) and No. 3 in the 3200 (12:20.10)
