14) Alex Scales Bellarmine (CCS) You wouldn't get very far when it comes to finding how many California distance runners had better seasons than Bellarmine junior, Alex Scales. Aside from his individual efforts, Scales helped lead Bellarmine to victories in the Distance Medley Relay at the Dublin Distance Fiesta, Arcadia and the Penn Relays. He also helped the Bells win the 4 x 800 meters at the Arcadia Invitational. Individually, Scales won the 1600m/mile at K Bell, Stanford, CCS Top 8 as well as the CCS Final. In the 800m, Scales won K Bell, Dublin Distance Fiesta, Arcadia (in PR 1:50.64) as well as the CCS Final. One of his few blemishes during the season was at the California State Track and Field final where Scales finished in 2nd place. He also dabbled in the 3200m a couple of times during the season with a personal best of 9:13.91. Based on the entire season, Scales was a force throughout and definitely earned his way into our top 15 list.
