#4 Lauren Peurifoy, Martin Luther King (SS)
When you have to select the top 10 runners in the state, there are many factors that go into such a selection that include both Cross Country and Track and Field times as well as head to head results between the top runners in the state. Lauren Peurifoy (photo above courtesy of Kirby Lee) was not on anybody's radar as far as top runners in the state but that quickly changed at the Cool Breeze Invitational where she finished in 4th place with a time of 16:59.36. She finished in 2nd place at the CA state XC meet with a time of 17:29.3 and qualified for NXN. There she finished in 25th place with a time of 18:10.8 and was the top California runner in the race.
