In the hurdles, Aiden Jackman (Clayton Valley/NC) clearly established himself as someone who could double at State after placing second in both invitational events. He was a narrow runner-up to Cameron Murray (Westlake, GA) in the 110s. Murray's 13.82 (1.2) winning time ranks #2 US with Jackman's 13.98 tied for US #3. In the 300s, it was James Smith (Westwood, AZ) with the win in 36.83 (he ranks US #2 at 36.58) and Jackman right behind in 37.47 (US #8).

Zachary Larrier (Monterey Trail/SJ) won the 400 meters in 47.12 (US #8) just ahead of Justin Robinson (Hazelwood West, Mo.) 47.24 (US #9).

Defending CIF-State 800m champion Jett Charvet (Heritage/NC) added an Arcadia title to his resume with a 1:52.60 two-lapper for US #5. Alex Scales (Bellarmine/CC), runner-up to Charvet at State, was third in 1:53.70, just under his season-best 1:53.46 (US #14) from the Dublin Distance Fiesta.

Sophomore Christopher Middleton-Pearson (Dublin/NC) won his heat of the Rising Stars Mile in 4:20.20 (CA #16).

In the long jump, US leader Malcolm Clemons (St. Mary's College/NC) was second to CJ Stevenson (Great Oak/SS) whose 24-3 winning jump ranks US #2. Clemens, a sophomore, who has a national-best 24-5.25 from the Stanford Invitational, went 23-10.50 at Arcadia. Alex Enos (St. Ignatius College Prep/CC) was third 23-8.75 (Enos ranks US #3 with a best of 24-2.50 from the K-Bell Invitational in early March).

As has been well-documented, Sondre Guttormsen (Davis Senior/SJ) cleared a CA state record in the pole vault, 18-2.50 and is US #2.

Bailey Jones (Palisades Charter/LA) was third in the triple jump behind Jalyn Jackson (Eastlake/SD) and Stevenson with a CA #5 best of 47-10.25.
