Lagoon Valley Classic Recap
Although this meet did not feature the big names that it did last year, we still got to see some interesting results. In the Girls' Small Schools varsity race, Sophia Karperos (Rio Americano) held off Alyssa Barnes (El Camino) for the individual win, leading her team to the title in the process. Vacaville emerged from the Girls' Large Schools race with the team win, despite Cosumnes Oaks going 1-2 individually (Natalie Harper clocked the best time of the day at 12:53.7).
On the boys' side, it was Collin Ullrich (Liberty Ranch) who posed the fastest mark, running 10:43.7 in the Large Schools division. Bella Vista won in the team scoring, 68-80 over Jesuit (who did not run several of their returning top 7, including Matt Strangio). Bella Vista was led by Benjamin Blankenburg and Nathaniel Lasalle, who finished 4th and 5th. Christian Brothers took home the victory in the Small Schools race, which was won by Johnny Vargas (Piner).
