The two best hurdlers in CCS will battle for the section crown. Cynthia Smith (Santa Clara) had the fastest time in the semifinals with a time of 14.65. She will need to hold off the defending section champion, Silver Creek sophomore Jazlynn Shearer. Smith edged out Shearer at the CCS Top 8 meet by .02 and the margin might be very similar here. Kiara Butts (Santa Teresa) and Chae Eun Kim (Leland) recorded the same time at the semis (15.19) but only one of them will more than likely get to race in Buchanan in a little over a week.

One hundredth of a second separated Blake Rose (Archbishop Mitty) from Mckenzie Dangelo (Valley Christian SJ) at the WCAL finals with Rose edging for the win in 14.69. They will now race for the section title and will be next to each other once again. The battle for 3rd should include Masaki Wada-Law (Los Gatos) and Anthony Delgado (San Benito) who are both sophomores. Quinn Lydon of San Lorenzo Valley will also be in the hunt as he finished 2nd at the CCS Top 8 Meet behind Rose in a personal best time of 14.95.
