Teams to Watch

Could last year's 5th-place team, Christian Brothers, move all the way up to the team title in 2015? When all four of the teams that beat you lost at least 3 seniors, and you have your entire top 6 back, that's certainly possible. The Falcons are on top of the returning 5K and 3 Mile rankings, according to our database, and they look like pretty solid favorites coming into the season. Riverbank looks like the closest competition, although Escalon has the 2nd-best returning team from the 2014 section finals. Looking at 5K rankings, Sierra and Amador both have solid teams, but both also have depth issues that Christian Brothers does not.

Individuals to Watch

Rising Sophomore Connor Landis (Bret Harte) was the top non-senior in the D4 race last November, but he only held a narrow advantage over a trio of rising seniors - one of them his teammate, Marc Behiel. Mike Sparks leads Christian Brothers as one of those Class of 2016 competitors, and Daniel Yanez (Hughson) is certainly in the mix for the individual title. None of these guys really did anything to stand out from the rest during track season, and that means any of them could be the champion come November.
