Here is a course tour of the new 3-mile layout at Brookside Golf Course adjacent to the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, CA. This is the home of the Cool Breeze Evening Invite, an annual early-season cross country meet run by Claremont HS XC coach Bill Reeves. This annual Friday afternoon/evening event typically attracts more than 100 schools and 3,500-4,000 athletes.
Terrain: Uneven golf course fairway, grass, dirt, sand, pine needles, roots, some rocks, round plastic submerged sprinkler covers, steel manhole covers.
This layout is to the west and northwest of the previous course. It starts heading north to a right turn just before the 1-mile mark to head south. From there, runners continue south to a right turn at the 1.5-mile mark to head back north. They repeat the original loop one time, continuing south to the finish the second time. Unlike the previous layout, this finish is a straight shot south. The final loop around to finish heading north has been eliminated.
