Catching Up With State HJ Champ Rachel Glenn

MileSplitCA caught up with Long Beach Wilson junior Rachel Glenn at the Long Beach Poly TrackRabbit Invitational on Saturday (2/23). Glenn, who started high jumping last season, tied for the title at the CIF-State Championships in June. She's also an excellent 400-meter runner, who put down a 54-second 40-meter anchor leg to rally Wilson past Moore League rival Poly in the 800m Sprint Medley Relay at this meet. Glenn opened her high jump career last spring with a stunning 5-11. That mark is the No. 1 returning jump in CA, tied for No. 4 nationally among returners, and ranks No. 2 nationally among girls in the Class of 2020. At the State Meet last June, Glenn tied two-time champion Abigail Burke at 5-10. A jump-off to determine a champion was not held and the two girls, the veteran Burke, and the newcomer, Glenn, shared the title.
