This week, we are highlighting a group of underclassmen making waves throughout the Golden State.
Has just taken off almost twenty seconds from his previous P.R in the 400m dash. A sophomore from La Habra, CA, Morales is actively the class of 2028's most improved 400m runner in California this season. He is just shy of cracking the 60-second barrier for the quarter-mile distance, and has also begun competing in the 200m dash.
Hernandez is a clear reflection of Apple Valley's effective training program. From last season to now, the sophomore has cut nearly three and a half minutes from his time in the 3200m run. He currently holds a P.R of 10:41.08 in the event and has also secured new P.Rs in both the 1600m and 800m runs. Hernandez is one of California's most improved 3200m runners this season.
Remember this name for the postseason, and most definitely for next season. Fashola currently leads the class of 2028 in both the 100m and 200m dashes. She's a top-tier sprinter who, as an underclassman, has posted times worthy of a Top 5 statewide ranking regardless of class. She has the fourth fastest times registered in the state for both events this season.
Currently leads the class of 2028 in the high jump with her recent P.R of 5-08.00. She's a newcomer to track and field, but has already left a mark on the statewide rankings for her class. Is also a 100m and 200m sprinter who currently holds bests of 13.75 and 28.87, respectively.
