Last weekend, the Rosemead XC Invitational stole headlines across the Southern Section for its always-fast 3-mile times. This year was no different, but one of the most interesting aspects is the drastic improvements seen from runners at each grade level.
By far the biggest improver of the weekend was Sebastian Rosas-Garcia of Don Bosco, who dropped 9 minutes off his 2024 time at Rosemead. This year, the sophomore ran 21:30 in contrast to his freshman year when he ran 30:54. Ross-Garcia's massive improvements illustrate that he's developing well in his second year of running.
Another athlete who continues to develop is Ayden Ramirez of Cajon, who won the Sophomore race in 2024. Now, as a junior, he captures another victory and an impressive improvement of 30 seconds to put him in an elite category. Ramirez ran 14:34 for 3 miles, which was the second fastest time of the meet.
