The California cross country season kicks off this weekend with a full slate of early-season meets, giving athletes across the state a chance to test their fitness and set the tone for 2025.
Week 1 in California is highlighted by 2-mile racing, especially in Southern California. Several runners from the southern section will flock to the Mountie XPress Invitational to preview the grueling Mt. SAC XC Course. Additionally, the Bronco Roundup and Fastback Invite are always set to be great rust busters for teams and individuals.
A new trend in CA cross country is the introduction of relay races at the beginning of the season. The Redondo Cross Country Relay and Roosey Relays offer two opportunities for teams to take an fun approach to the start of their season.
