BOYS
Aman Bereket (Skyline, Sr.) - Returning Oakland Section champion in the 800m (1:59.85) who competed at the CIF-State Prelims (2:03.87). He also is the No. 2 returner for 3200m (10:30.51) and No. 4 for 1600m (4:53.74).
Amare Brown (Oakland Tech, Sr.) - One of two returning hurdles who should battle for section supremacy again this spring. Amare is the defending champion in the 110m hurdles (17.45/-1.7) who placed second in the 300m hurdles (43.61).
Tajir Golden (McClymonds, So., pictured above) - Returning OS champion in both the 400 meters (52.00 after running 51.38 at prelims), and the long jump (21-7/-1.7). He has PRs of 11.28/23.01/51.38.
Andy Ixtabalan Argueta (Skyline, Sr., pictured) - Returning section champion in the 3200m run (10:37.03) who ran at the State Meet Finals (9:58.11). He was the runner-up in the 1600m (4:25.69). He ran PRs of 9:50.11 for 3200m and 2:03.29 for 800m. Andy was the section cross country runner-up to Miles Jones a year after winning the section title.
Miles Jones (Oakland Tech, Jr.) - Returning OS champion for 1600 meters (4:21.25) who competed at CIF-State Prelims (4:26.22). In the fall, Miles won the OS cross country title and ran at the State XC Championships.
Miles Pare' (Skyline, Sr.) - Miles is the returning OS champion in the 300m hurdles (43.42) who placed second to Amare Brown in 110m hurdles (17.94/-1.4). Those two figure to battle for section supremacy over the barriers again this spring.
August Schafer (Oakland Tech, So.) - Runner-up in the 3200m at last May's Oakland Section Finals running 10:42.28.
Javian Thomas (McClymonds, Sr.) - Top returning sprinter in the Oakland Section after placing third in both the 100-meter dash (11.29/0.2) and the 200m (23.18/-0.6) last May. Also a member of the section champion 4x100m relay team that placed third at the State Meet (41.69). He has wind-legal sprint PRs of 11.00/22.69.
GIRLS
Inelaboh Ajayi (Oakland Tech, Sr.) - Inelaboah is the returning section champion in the 200m (26.37/-0.5) with a Oakland Section No. 2-ranked 100m time of 12.65.
Kanara Allen (McClymonds, Jr.) - 3. Kanara, placed second in the 200m (27.60) and third in the 100m (13.22/-0.8) at last May's section finals. She is among four returners who should dominate the sprints again this spring.
Eliza Ayres (Oakland Tech, So., pictured above) - During her freshman year, Eliza established section-best marks in both hurdles and in the long jump while winning all three OS titles. She also ran a top-five time in the 200m. She ran 15.05 (1.7) in the 100m hurdles at State Prelims and 48.33 in the 300mH at the section final. She hit a long jump best of 17-2.75 both at State Prelims and in a post-season meet, where she also ran a 100mH PR of 14.99. That is the second-fastest time in the class in CA for the 100mH.
Miracle Cornists (Castlemont, So.) - She is the No. 2 returner in both throws after going 27-8 in the shot and 68-2 in the discus throw at the 2022 Oakland Section Finals. She has a DT PR of 71-6.
Chloe Leduc (Oakland Tech, Fr., pictured) - The only freshman on this list, Chloe was the Oakland Section runner-up at the cross country finals and went on to lead her team at the CIF-State Meet, placing 53rd in the D-II race as the No. 11 freshman.
Roselin Saavedra-Silva (Castlemont, Sr.) - Returning champion in the 1600m (5:31.74) and No. 2 returner for 800m (2:31.59) from the section finals. She was fifth in the OS XC championships.
Danielle Victorian (Skyline, So.) - Returning Oakland Section champion in the shot put (28-11.50) and the No. 2 returner in the discus throw (67-5.75).
Jessica Vogel (Skyline, Jr.) - Jessica is arguably the top returning combo distance runner in the Oakland Section. She is the No. 2 returner in the 1600m (5:45.84) and the No. 3 returner in the 800m (2:37.84) from the section championships. She also has the No. 1 returning time for 3200m (12:40.99).
Jada Williams (Oakland Tech, Sr.) - Jada is the defending champion and has the section's top returning time for 400m (1:01.49). She also ranks top-3 in both the 100m (12.74) and 200m (26.73).
Jala Williams (Oakland Tech, Sr.) - Jala is the returning section champion in the 100m (12.54) and has top-2 returning marks in both the 200m (26.59) and 400m (1:01.49).
