30 Girls XC Teams to Watch this Fall: Clovis North (CS)

It's time to get fired up for cross country! Our traditional XC countdown is back, although it may look a little different this time around - our longtime data analyst Jeff George has moved on, leaving this energizing project to the MileSplit team in CA. Our collective goal is to briefly highlight 30 boys and 30 girls teams that we think will have an impact this fall. We will spotlight one team per gender per day over a 30-day period. Similar to past countdowns, we will provide a cross-sampling of teams from all 10 sections without regard to statewide or even division ranking (those will come later, as will articles previewing each section, and returning athletes to watch). As always, if you catch an error or have updated information for us, email CA state editor Jeffrey Parenti (jeffrey.parenti@flosports.tv) and we'll make the corrections.

Ashlyn Leath was often a force of one in 2021 for Clovis North cross-country.

The Broncos' team success often went as Leath and a few teammates -- who have since graduated -- did. In a Tri-River Athletic Conference (TRAC) league dominated by the state and nationally ranked Buchanan, it is hard to stand out.

Leath, however, did her best last fall. Her three top eight or better finishes in key November meets helped break up what otherwise was a complete Buchanan team domination. Leath's efforts helped Clovis North finish runner-up in league, third in the CIF Central Section Division I race and eighth in the State Meet.

Thankfully, in 2022, Leath is a senior. She's back and she's the anchor. Leath will undoubtedly be counted on to resume her No. 1 status and to serve as a Buchanan buster.

The hope is to see continued improvement from returning runners such as juniors Kaitelyn Emmons and Samantha Ebell, sophomores Keira Quigley and Aubrey Pacheco, junior Miya Maltos, senior Isabella Blanco and sophomore Italia Perez.
