This week's Tasty Race serves to put a spotlight on one of the state's top dual hurdlers, Monrovia (SS) senior Madeleine Conte.
In the video, we watch Conte cruise to a victory in her heat of the 100-meter hurdles at the CIF-Southern Section Division 3 Preliminary Meet at Estancia HS in Costa Mesa.
Conte, who currently ranks tied for sixth in CA in the 100m hurdles for her PR of 14.49 (0.6) at Mt. SAC, went 14.77 (2.1) in heat 4 of 4, easily the fastest time in the field heading to Saturday's all-division championships at Moorpark HS.
Later in the day, she ran 44.83 in her 300m hurdles heat, again the fastest in the field heading to the D-3 Finals. She ranks CA No. 4 in the 300m hurdles with a season-best of 43.60 from Mt. SAC.
As a junior, Conte placed second in D-3 in the 100mH, won the 300mH, and then went on to place second in the 300s at the unofficial state meet with a PR of 43.55.
