MILESPLITCA TASTY RACE OF THE WEEK
* * *
JSerra (SS) senior and USC signee Ashlee Gallegos, her teammate, sophomore Georgia Jeanneret, and Palo Alto (CC) junior Hillary Studdert quickly left the field behind in the elite girls 800-meter run at the Stanford Invitational on Saturday.
In this video from our partners at FloTrack, Gallegos pushed a rapid pace and maintained the lead but her teammate and Studdert refused to relent as they hit the bell and pushed hard into the second 400m.
The end result was the Nos. 6, 7 and 14 times in CA so far this outdoor season for the two-lap race.
It was a 1.23-second PR for Gallegos (whose time ranks CA No. 3 and U.S. No. 4 in the senior class), and a 2.43-second drop for Studdert (CA No. 2 and U.S. No. 4 in the junior class).
Jeanneret, whose PR is 2:11.59 from last June, went under 2:13 for the third time and ranks CA No. 2 and U.S. 8 in the sophomore class.
