MILESPLITCA TASTY RACE OF THE WEEK

Ian Peoples, a junior at Elk Grove Franklin High in the Sac-Joaquin Section, recorded two of the fastest sprint times in the state on Saturday at the Sacramento State Track Classic meet at Hornet Stadium on the Sac State University campus.

This week's MileSplitCA Tasty Race offering zeros in on Peoples' performance in the 100-meters where he stopped the clock at 10.61 seconds in a race with legal 1.7 meters-per-second wind. That time ranks CA No. 1 and U.S. No. 6 for wind-legal marks and CA No. 2 for all conditions.

Peoples powered his way up the middle of the track in a race where the top four all ranked among CA's top 50 for wind-legal 100-meter dash times. Edison (SJ) senior LaJamien Sampson was second (11.08, CA No. 22), Yuba City (SJ) senior Michael Rojo was third (11.23) and Oak Ridge (SJ) junior Keller Leet was fourth (11.25).

Peoples also was the class of the 200-meter field, rolling to wind-aided 21.47 (2.5), which ranks CA No. 2 for all conditions. Vanden (SJ) sophomore Brayden Chavez placed second in that heat (22.63) and Rojo won his heat with the third-fastest time of the meet in a wind-legal 22.88 (1.9). That 21.47 ranks U.S. No. 23 for all-conditions times.
