Ellie Buckley, a junior at Campolindo (NC), cruised the 5K State Meet course at Woodward Park in Fresno in 17:54.5 to win the varsity girls large school race at the Rough Rider Invitational on Oct. 15. Buckley won by 37 seconds over Highland (CS) sophomore Mia Torrecillas while leading her team to the division title.

In recognition of her accomplishment, Buckley was voted as CA's Girls Cross Country Runner of the Week for the week ending Oct. 16, receiving 43.68 percent of the vote in a statewide poll. Peninsula junior Aishling Callanan, a former weekly winner, was second with 32.01 percent of the vote.

Vote for this week's CA Girls Cross Country Runner of the Week based on last week's meet results through Oct. 23. Voting closes Friday at 9 p.m.
