More Northern Section Teams to Watch
Shasta Boys
Although losing Luke Bland certainly hurts, Shasta has a strong core returning for the upcoming season. Senior Thomas MacLean is among the best individuals in the section, with juniors Dylan Jackson and Tyler Dutro supporting him. Depth is a concern after that top three, but there is a deep senior class on hand that can hopefully step up and send the Wolves back to the state meet.
Chico Girls
If anyone is going to rain on UPrep's parade, it will be Chico. The Panthers' depth is a huge advantage, giving them the chance to develop new top 7 runners that could put them over the top. Sophie Sims should be right with UPrep's start duo, and she leads a stellar junior class that accounts for 7 of Chico's top 9 returning runners. The Panthers are not going to give up the overall Northern Section title easily, and they could be building toward their best team ever in 2021.
