In advance of Saturday night's sub-4 mile attempt by Matt Strangio, John Lester and friends, we wanted to take a look back at the fastest mile performances posted by a California high school boy.
What follows are the top 300 times run in the mile by CA boys since 2010. These are not converted 1600m times but rather times entered into the MileSplit database as a true "One Mile Run" event.
While the official CIF championship-season event is the 1600m, many invitationals during the high school calendar as well as during the summer put athletes on the line for the mile run.
The difference between the top 300 times in the mile over the last 10-plus years is 18.79 seconds between Cooper Teare's 4:00.16 from the 2017 Mt. SAC Relays to Eduardo Herrera's 4:18.95 from the 2015 ...
