Welcome to a new series of stats articles that we had planned for this spring! We're using our Power Ratings report in a different way - to identify the best all-around athlete in each event group, and then overall across all events. The report scores 20 deep in every event (20 for 1st, 19 for 2nd, etc) and then tallies the points for each athlete.
Given our truncated season this spring, we decided to look back into 2019 for some additional data - all throwers from last spring, and also just the athletes returning for 2020. Also, each list has a clear drop-off after a certain point, which is why the number of athletes listed varies. We hope you enjoy it, and look out for our jumps, sprints, distance, hurdles, and overall articles yet to come!
