This article highlights the results of second-round dual as part of the MileSplitCA March Madness Virtual Meet Tournament. No. 8 Amador Valley (NC) vs. No. 9 Santa Margarita (SS)
A 26-1 domination of the three distance group events was not enough for No. 8 Amador Valley against No. 9 Santa Margarita, which had a 65-point advantage across the rest of the competition in gaining a second-round victory in the boys bracket of the MileSplitCA March Madness Virtual Dual Meet Tournament.
Senior Justin Caragao had fast times in two of the sprints while contributing 13 points to the total, senior Michael Ventura added 11 points with fast times in both hurdles and a top-three place in the 200m, and junior Zack Morris contributed 5.5 points leading a 13-5 advantage in the throws. In all, 17 athletes scored for Santa Margarita Catholic.
Yes, Amador Valley did dominate the distances, led by junior John Lester, who had fast times in the 800m and 3200m and also added three points in the 400m. His 1:52.06 from the Dan Gabor Distance Invite (March 7) ranks as the fastest 800m in the U.S. for marks that were achieved before the 2020 outdoor season was suspended.
Senior Aidan MCarthy was runner-up in both the 800m and 1600m, and junior Euan Houston had the fastest time in the 3200m, was second in the 1600m, and third in the 800m. Houston's 4:18.86 for 1600m, also from Dan Gabor, ranks CA No. 7 and McCarthy's 4:19.34 ranks CA No. 10.
