This article highlights the results of second-round dual as part of the MileSplitCA March Madness Virtual Meet Tournament. Virtual meets are scored based solely on 2020 results using the standard dual meet scoring points format of
5-3-1 for individuals and 5-0 for relays. Athletes are scored in no more than four events (although the program that processes the meet scores does not have access to individuals in a relay). Teams are limited to three athletes per event. Stay with us for the entire tournament to see which boys and girls teams reign supreme in this virtual meet format.

No. 1 Upland (SS) vs. No. 17 Harvard Westlake (SS)

While No. 1 fell by the wayside in the girls virtual dual tournament earlier today, the top seed in the boys tournament has moved into the elite round of eight.

Harvard Westlake's nice young group of athletes won the sprints, throws and jumps but ultimately lost the war against top-seeded Upland.

Senior distance standout Romeo Zendejas had the top times in the 800m and 1600m and slotted second in the 3200m, senior Namir Hemphill contributed eight points (plus both winning relays) in the triple jump and 100m, and freshman Kai Graves-Blanks had the top times in both hurdles

Hemphill's 49-11 triple jump from the Feb. 29 Mustang Roundup leads CA and equals the second-longest jump in the U.S. among marks achieved before the 2020 outdoor season was suspended. He also ranks CA No. 6 in the 100m with an all-conditions time of 10.91 (0.6).

Hemphill is one of three Upland boys with early 2020 marks that rank among the state's top 7. Sophomore sprinter Delaney Crawford ranks CA No. 5 for 200m (22.05/0.3) and Ca No. 7 for 400m (49.51), and Graves-Blanks ranks CA No. 6 in the 110m hurdles (14.79/0.2).

Harvard Westlake junior Chase Harleston ranks CA No. 1 in the 200m (21.75/1.6) and CA No. 2 in the 100m (10.81/0.5) both from the March 5 tri with Chaminade and Marlborough.
