No. 8 Etiwanda (SS) vs. No. 24 Vista del Lago (SJ)
One athlete from each class helped lead Etiwanda in this 'Battle of the Eagles."
Freshman Sinaiah Pointer and junior Kennedi Porter each had top marks in two events, and senior Laila Wright and sophomore Jasmine Munoz came up huge in the distances as No. 8 Etiwanda eliminated No. 24 Vista del Lago (SJ) in the second-round of the girls bracket in the MileSplitCA March Madness Virtual Dual Meet Tournament.
For Etiwanda, Pointer had both top marks leading a team win in the throws. Porter accounted for 13 points in leading the sprints. And the duo of Wright and Munoz totaled 15 of their team's 16 points in the distances, outscoring Vista del Lago in perhaps its strongest event group.
Porter's 12.01 (1.3) from the March 7 Colt Classic ranks CA No. 3 for 100m (all conditions), and her 25.04 (0.4) ranks CA No. 7 among marks established before the 2020 outdoor season was suspended,
Senior Ceonna Pipion with a CA No. 4-ranked 400m time of 56.93 only scored in that event for Vista del Lago. The same is true of sophomore Alexandra Klos, whose 1600m season best of 4:54.91 leads CA and ranks U.S. No. 6.
