This article highlights the results of second-round dual as part of the MileSplitCA March Madness Virtual Meet Tournament. Virtual meets are scored based solely on 2020 results using the standard dual meet scoring points format of 5-3-1 for individuals and 5-0 for relays. Athletes are scored in no more than four events (although the program that processes the meet scores does not have access to individuals in a relay). Teams are limited to three athletes per event. No. 23 San Pasqual (SD) vs. No. 26 Citrus Valley (SS)
As seed-based upsets go, this was minor. Tell that to the ladies from No. 26 Citrus Valley who pulled it off, eliminated No. 23 San Pasqual in the second-round of the girls bracket of the MileSplitCA March Madness Virtual Dual Meet Tournament.
Redlands-based Citrus Valley had a handful of scoring leaders: Juniors Cienna Norman-Thomas and Amanda Earl, sophomore Kamryn Hughes, freshman Brooklyn Timm and senior Alana Barger.
Norman-Thomas had the top times in the 200m and 400m, Earl took top honors in both throws, Hughes was fastest in the 100m and added points in the long jump, Timm was the meet's lone scorer in the 3200m and was second in the 1600m, and Barger contributed runner-up points in the 200m and 400m.
Citrus Valley needed points across the board to knock out its San Diego Section opponent.
Escondido-based San Pasqual got 20 points from versatile junior Elise Miller, who had the top marks in four events: 100m hurdles, high jump, long jump and triple jump. The Eagles also got eight points from sophomore middle distance runner Anna Exline and eight points in the jumps from senior Rebecca Dominguez.
