This article highlights the results of first-round dual as part of the MileSplitCA March Madness Virtual Meet Tournament. Virtual meets are scored based solely on 2020 results using the standard dual meet scoring points format of 5-3-1 for individuals and 5-0 for relays. Athletes are scored in no more than four events. No. 8 AMADOR VALLEY (NC) vs. No. 25 CATHEDRAL (SS)
Look out for the Lester brothers, folks.
John Lester had the top marks in three events and younger brother Timothy Lester had the fastest times in two events as No. 8 Amador Valley advanced with a victory over No. 25 Cathedral, 91-23, in a first-round match in the boys bracket of the MileSplitCA virtual dual meet tournament.
John Lester, a junior, who has the top 800m time in the state (1:52.06) through the shortened 2020 season, was a State Meet finalist in the two-lap race last May.
In this virtual comparison, he also had the top times in the 400 and 3200, and Timothy Lester, a sophomore, placed atop both the 100 and 200-meter dashes and second in the 400m leading the runaway victory for the school from the North Coast Section.
Junior Anthony Taylor had the fastest times in both hurdles races for Cathedral.
Next: Amador Valley will go against the first-round winner of No. 9 Santa Margarita Catholic (SS) and No. 24 St. Mary's College HS (NC).
