This article highlights the results of first-round dual as part of the MileSplitCA March Madness Virtual Meet Tournament. Virtual meets are scored based solely on 2020 results using the standard dual meet scoring points format of 5-3-1 for individuals and 5-0 for relays. Athletes are scored in no more than four events. No. 14 REDWOOD (CS) vs. No. 19 MATER DEI (SS)

Redwood had two double-event winners in Ryan Hemphill and Brandon Andrade but the name of the game is accumulation of points across six event categories and in this particular virtual dual meet, Mater Dei achieved the objective and will advance. 

Hemphill and Andrade led the Visalia-based school with the former winning the 400m and 800m and the latter posting the fastest times in the 110m hurdles and 300m hurdles. 

Mater Dei, based in Santa Ana got event wins from sophomore sprinter Domani Jackson (100m), junior distance standout Danny Wacker (1600m), junior Dario Lopez (triple jump), senior Albert Criger (long jump), junior Santino Faccio (shot put) and sophomore Harry Podell (discus throw). 

Jackson's 10.78 from the South County Classic ranks CA No. 1 for 100m. Mater Dei's 41.85 in the 4x100m relay from that same meet also tops the state rankings based on marks achieved before the 2020 outdoor season was suspended. 

Hemphill's 1:54.12 for 800m from the Buchanan Distance Classic ranks CA No. 2 and U.S. No. 8.
