No. 6 CHAMINADE (SS) vs. No. 27 DORSEY (LA)
won the 110 hurdles, 300 hurdles and the long jump to lead Chaminade College Prep to a 68-26 route of Dorsey in this boys first-round virtual meet matchup.
Dorsey, the lone representative from the Los Angeles City Section in this 32-team virtual meet tournament, was led by senior Christian Rodriguez
, a 800-meter State Meet finalist in 2019, whose early 2020 times were good enough to give his team wins in the 800 and the 1600.
The tournament process is limited to existing 2020 outdoor marks. Teams that were limited over the first three weeks before the season was put on hold will have a difficult time advancing behind the first round for lack of depth in multiple events. That clearly was Dorsey's undoing here, with zero points in the jumps, throws and hurdles. Chaminade had 34 points in those three categories, which alone was enough to win the meet.
Next: Chaminade faces the winner between No. 11 Loyola (SS) and No. 22 St. John Bosco (SS).
