This article highlights the results of first-round dual as part of the MileSplitCA March Madness Virtual Meet Tournament. Virtual meets are scored based solely on 2020 results using the standard dual meet scoring points format of 5-3-1 for individuals and 5-0 for relays. Athletes are scored in no more than four events. No. 2 UPLAND (SS) vs. No. 31 POWAY (SD)

Yes, it took more than State Meet long jump champion Caelyn Harris for second-seeded Upland to hold off State Meet pole vault medalist Katerina Adamiec and Poway, 89-47, in a first-round girls virtual dual meet.

Harris, a sophomore, naturally had the top long jump mark, but she was well supported by the likes of senior Kerrington Smith, junior Jordyn Grady and Ajah Anderson, and sophomore Riley Rodriguez. 

Adamiec had the top pole vault mark and also picked up a point with the third-longest triple jump scored, but overall Upland's depth across all event categories was too much for the Titans.

Grady had the top time in the 100m and 100m hurdles and the No. 2 mark in the 200m. Smith had the top mark in the triple jump, Anderson added points with the top marks in the 300m hurdles and the high jump and a third place in the 100 hurdles. Rodriguez had the top time in the 1600 and was runner-up in the 3200. 

Harris, whose PR jump of 20-8.50 earned her the State Meet title, had a 2020 best of 20-0.5 established before the outdoor season was interrupted. That marks ranks CA No. 1 and U.S. No. 2 for all-conditions for the thus-far-abbreviated 2020 outdoor season.

Next: Upland will be scored against the first-round winner between No. 15 Pittsburg (NC) and No. 18 Norco (SS).
