This article highlights the results of first-round dual as part of the MileSplitCA March Madness Virtual Meet Tournament. Virtual meets are scored based solely on 2020 results using the standard dual meet scoring points format of 5-3-1 for individuals and 5-0 for relays. Athletes are scored in no more than four events. No. 13 JSERRA (SS) vs. No. 20 LOS ALTOS (CC)

Senior Anna Zaeske, sophomore Olivia Pye, and the freshman duo of Lauren Soobrian and Megan MacKenzie each won two events in an upset victory for 20th-seeded Los Altos over No. 13 JSerra.

Zaeske had the top times in the 100m and 200m dashes, Pye placed first in both throws, Soobrian was fastest in the 1600m and 3200m, and Megan MacKenzie had the top marks in both the triple jump and the long jump. 

Winning events for JSerra were senior Rylan Engels (800m), and the freshman duo of Hanna Barmettler (400m) and Kate Blachowski (pole vault). 

Soobrian's time in the 3200m of 10:39.79 from a dual on March 4, ranks CA No. 1, U.S. No. 8 overall and U.S. No. 1 in the freshman class. All marks applied in this virtual meet were achieved before the 2020 outdoor season was suspended. Her 1600m time of 4:59.24 from that same meet ranks CA No. 3, U.S. No. 14 overall and also is the best in the nation among girls in the class of 2023.
