GIRLS RUNNER OF THE YEAR

Presentation senior Gianna Mendoza (photo above by Howard Lao) is the CCS runner of the year. She won the Nike Portland XC Invitational and won all three WCAL races which included her 2nd straight league title. During the season, she recorded the 2nd fastest time for all CCS runners on the Crystal Springs course at 17:44.3. She also won the CCS Division II race with a time of 17:55.55 which was the fastest time in all divisions. She saved her best race of the season for the state meet as Mendoza finished in 3rd place with a new PR of 17:36.4. That time placed her as the 9th fastest girl if you combined every division. It was also the 6th fastest time recorded by a CCS athlete at all state meets combined. For you historians, the fastest times recorded by CCS girls at past state meets are as follows.
