Girls Coundown to XC Day 8: El Toro

The Chargers were 10th in the state in 2016, 5th in 2017, and 10th again in 2018. Seeing as how they had only one senior in their top 7 last fall, it's looking like El Toro will be back in the top 5 again this year. There are several factors that support this hypothesis, not least of which is the leadership of a strong group of rising seniors (four of them returning with state meet experience). We can also look at track times, which were very strong: 6 girls at 12:00 or better in the 3200 (including three girls that were outside the returning top 7 in the fall) to go with a whopping four sub-5:20 milers (something only 6 other schools can claim from this past spring). Alexis Neuville continues to develop up front after adding a 10:58 to her resume during track season, and El Toro has demonstrated the ability to put together strong improvement over the summer. The Chargers have all the hallmarks of a contender for podium finishes at the section and state level this fall.
