Boys Countdown to XC Day 12: West Torrance

As far as I can tell, this is shaping up to be a slow summer in terms of transfers, but West Torrance should benefit from the addition of Alex Mainvielle (formerly at Chadwick) to their returning top 7. He ran 15:50 his freshman year, but did not participate in cross country last fall due to his schedule as a highly competitive triathlete. Coming off a 9:40 this spring, though, he would slot in with Nolan Gallagher and Joshua Murray as interchangeable 2-4 runners. Jake Parker looks like a star in the making after clocking 9:10 and 4:12 on the track, while Seung Yang ran 9:55 to solidify himself as the 5 man. With evidence of improved depth during the spring season and a very strong record of year-to-year improvement, it's not hard to envision the Warriors back in the top five at the state meet, even with their expected move up to Division 2. For a team that graduated 5 of their top 7 from the 3rd place team in Division 3, that's very impressive.
