The only reason why Capo Valley isn't higher on this list is the loaded Southern Section Division 2 roster. (This is also the only reason why the Cougars weren't in the top 10 in the Division 2 state meet, as they just missed out on advancing from their stacked section.) This is a very strong returning top 5 led by #1 runner Carly Corsinita, who ran 10:29 for 3200 on the track. It's the next four two-milers behind her that really caught my eye, though: Kroger, Trueman, McConathy, and Beck all ran under 12 minutes, and with Samantha Fulkerson they should form a 5-girl support pack behind their star. Capo Valley had only one senior in the top 7 in 2018 and projects to have only two this fall, so we could see a multi-year upswing. I'm predicting they will make it out of the section this year, and that makes them one of the best programs in the state by default.
