With only one senior in their top 7, the Wildcats finished 5th in the Southern Section Division 3 race and then ran 8th at the state meet. That would be enough to rate Brea Olinda as a top 5 D3 team for the upcoming season, but then they went and put their top 3 at 9:43 or faster in the 3200 this spring. Brea has been kind of a puzzle in my time covering California cross country, but I like their 2019 squad. The Wildcats have some strong senior leadership mixed with young talent that could be ready to make a leap forward, and they are a contending program year in and year out. I think they will be right there competing for the Southern Section title, and could be a Division 3 podium team.
