In truth, this team has some numbers that could have justified a higher position if this were intended to be a true ranking. For example, the Wolverines rank 14th in the entire Southern Section for returning team 3 Mile, and they have impressive team 1600 results for a smaller school. Of course, it helps to have the Quintero sisters fronting your group! They already fit among California's best on both the course and the track, and they're going to be together on the team for 2 more seasons. My only concern with this team is depth: they only have 6 returning runners with 3 Mile times in our database, and there are some pretty significant gaps between their 4-5-6 runners. Still, Harvard Westlake finished 3rd in the Division 4 state meet last fall, and they had 4 sophomores and a freshman in that line-up. If they can develop 2 or 3 more top 7 quality runners, this squad will be very hard to beat in 2019, and could be even better the year after.
