When you finish 6th in the state meet and it can be considered something of a down season, you know you have a good program. The Rebels return 5 of 7 from that squad, though, and that's why they have the top returning Division 5 team using both 5K and 3 mile times. Flintridge has very good depth returning for such a small school, which is huge when you're pursuing a title: this team can survive an off-day from any of its top 7 runners and still score well. I would have like to see stronger track season results that would give us an idea of how much progress the team has made, although I should note that Bennett Oakes posted some solid times (especially in the 3200). Now going into their second full season after former coach Ingrid Herskind stepped down, and featuring a strong group of rising seniors for leadership, the Rebels should be ready to resume their usual position as state championship contenders.
