Within the San Francisco Section, the Lowell boys and girls have been equally dominant - but in comparison to teams state-wide, the boys have been stronger recently. This year, though, the returning Cardinal girls rank higher against competition from around the state, and that bodes well for their effort to move up at the 2019 Division 1 state meet. This team returns 6 of 7 from last year's state championship, including two rising sophomores (who ran 1-2 in Clovis) and two rising juniors. Lowell had one of the youngest teams at that meet, in fact, and they have a strong record of year-to-year improvement that has me high on them for the upcoming season. Jenna Satovsky in particular showed major development during track season, clocking 11:20 and 5:12 to show that she and Elizabeth Holcombe will be a potent and interchangeable 1-2 punch on the course. With 6 girls at 12:45 or faster this past spring, and only one of them set to graduate in 2020, Lowell is on the rise.
