Girls Countdown to XC Day 28: Lick Wilmerding

The last few years have seen an intra-sectional rivalry developing at the Division 5 state meet between Lick Wilmerding and St. Margaret's Episcopal. Last year the Tigers held on for the title with only one senior in their top 7, which makes them the favorite to repeat in 2019. They had a solid spring, as well, putting 5 girls under 12:45 in the 3200 with two more not far behind. The one concern is the gap between their fourth and fifth runners, which is evident in both returning cross country and track rankings. That might not be a problem when the fall rolls around, however: the Tigers have one of the best 3-year improvement grades in California, which shows they can develop talent and depth from year to year. Not only is this team a force to be reckoned with in Division 5, but they could be one of the top 5 teams in the North Coast Section regardless of division.
