California (Whittier) Boys
You might expect the Condors to take a step back this fall, and you have good reason: they graduated four of their 7 runners from the squad that finished 13th in Division 1 in 2018. However, the returners on this team showed good progress during track season, enough that they might surprise some people come September. Putting 4 guys at 9:55 or faster is impressive, and they had two more at 10:12 and 10:16 to indicate developing depth. Jared Alderfer, in particular, seems to have taken a leap forward, recording the Condors' best returning 3200 after ranking 11th on the team during cross country. This is a school with a solid record of year-to-year improvement, so don't be surprised to find them still hanging around late in the championship season.
