This installment of a 10-part series leading up to the overall MileSplitCA All-State teams focuses on girls in the class of 2020.

The MileSplitCA All-State teams are subjective selections with strong consideration given to performance at the CIF-State Meet, top placing at section finals, season-long consistency at a high level, and versatility. Top marks within the class is a consideration but not a guarantee of making this list. Performances at the end of the season are weighed more than those at the beginning of the season.

In compiling the teams, we make a point of filling every event category and that each event within those categories is accounted for, making versatility at a high level an important criteria in our decision process.

As we have encountered at every level in selecting the girls teams, the depth of talent across the state forces us to make difficult choices. There were 15 girls in the class of 2020 who won 17 medals at the State Meet. Another 18 qualified to compete at State. All medalists made the 20-athlete first team and all finals qualifiers out of prelims made the 20-athlete second team.

From there, decisions were based on performance at the section finals level, depth of resume and other factors.

In addition to the first and second teams, we recognize 25 additional girls with honorable mention bringing the total to 65 athletes named as part of the 2019 Junior Girls MileSplitCA All-State Team.
