ATHLETES OF THE YEAR

Girls

There are several noteworthy athletes that were considered for this award but in the end, only one athlete is deserving of this award. Silver Creek senior, Jazlynn Shearer has been one of the top athletes in CCS for the past four years but this past season, Shearer took herself to a new level. She won the 100 hurdles at CCS for the 4th year in a row and won two state championships. Case closed.

Boys

The boys' section athlete of the year is not as easy to decide as there are multiple worthy candidates. As I looked at all the candidates, one of them stood above the rest and that was Masaki Wada-Law. He was the dominant 110 hurdler in the section and podiumed at state with a 14.11w best. He also podiumed at state in the 300 hurdles with a best of 37.62 at the state meet. He was also one of the best 100m sprinters in the section with a best of 10.84 as well as the anchor on his team's 1600 relay that won the section final and put the cherry on top of their section team title cake.
