SPRINTS

NICHOLAS GATES (Calabasas/SS) | 100/200 | Swept the sprint titles at the Southern Section Division 2 Finals, winning the 100m (10.79) and the 200m (21.72). Placed seventh at the SS Masters Meet in the 200 (22.18). Flew to a windy 21.57 (3.3) at Division 2 Prelims, which ranks CA No. 1 and U.S. No. 6 in the class for all conditions.

PATRICK IZEIAMU (Chaminade/SS) | 100m | Ran PR 10.69 (2.1) at the CIF-SS Division 3 Prelims. That time ranks CA No. 2 and U.S. No. 9 in the class for all conditions. Third in the SS-D3 final (10.73) and fourth at SS Masters (10.89/0.4) to earn a trip to State. He is one of only six 2022 boys to qualify to compete in an individual Friday night qualifying events at State. 200m PR of 22.38 ranks CA No. 10 in the class.

JAELEN KNOX (Long Beach Poly/SS) | 100/200 | In limited racing, Knox put up the state's fastest 200m in the class 21.69 (1.8). That time also ranks U.S. No. 5. in the class. He won seven of eight races. His 100m PR of 10.87 (2.2) ranks CA No. 11 in the class for all conditions. Ran on both medal-winning relays at the State Finals.

RAYSHON LUKE (St. John Bosco/SS) | 100/200 | Placed fifth at the State Meet in the 100 meters (10.59). Placed second in the Southern Section Division 3 Final in the 100 (10.66) and followed that up with a runner-up finish in the CIF-SS Masters Meet (10.65). His 10.55 for fourth in his prelim heat at State qualifying ranks CA No. 1 in the class and U.S. No. 4 in the class, and CA No. 6 wind legal regardless of class. 200m PR is 22.28. He is one of only six 2022 boys to qualify to compete in an individual Friday night qualifying events at State.

CROIX STEWART (American Canyon/NC) | 100/200/400 |  Versatile sprinter, who ranks No. 2 in the class in the 400 (49.97), No. 4 in the 200 (21.78) and No. 5 in the 100 (10.81/1.6). His 200 time ranks U.S. No. 13 in the class. Won varsity 200-400 titles at league and 100-200 titles at CIF-NCS Redwood Empire Area Finals. Placed fourth in the 100m (10.97) at CIF-NCS Meet of Champions as the only freshman boy among 25 qualifiers.

JALIL TUCKER (St. Augustine/SD) | 100 | Qualified for the State Meet after placing third in the San Diego Section Division 2 Final in the 200 (10.89/1.8). He is one of only six 2022 boys to qualify to compete in an individual Friday night qualifying events at State.

JEREMIAH WALKER (Central/CS) | 200/400 | Ranks No. 1 in the state in the 2022 class in the 400m (49.66) and No. 2 for all conditions in the 200 (21.65w). Placed fourth at the Central Section final in the 200 (22.26/0.3) and in the 400 (49.66/CA No. 1/U.S. No. 22). 

HURDLES

JAYLEN DURHAM (Hamilton/LA) | 110H/300H | At the LA City Section Finals, placed second in the 110s (15.70) and fourth ni the 300s (41.82). Qualified for State in the 100s where his wind-legal PR of 15.37 (1.2) ranks CA No. 2. Ran his 300H PR of 41.41 (CA No. 4) for second in the varsity final at league. He is one of only six 2022 boys to qualify to compete in an individual Friday night qualifying events at State.

JADYN MARSHALL (Stockton St. Mary's/SJ) | 110H/300H | Qualified for the State Meet in both hurdles and made the final of the 300s. Was disqualified for a false start in his 110 qualifying heat at state. At SJS Masters, paced second in the 300s (39.17) and third in the 110s (14.65/2.0), running behind his brother Jamar Marshall, and Merrill West's Warren Williams, two of the top high hurdle runners in the U.S.  Jadyn's 110 PR (14.33/2.0) ranks U.S. No. 2. His 300 PR of 37.59 for fifth at State Prelims ranks U.S. No. 1 in the class and CA No. 8 regardless of class. He is one of only six 2022 boys to qualify to compete in an individual Friday night qualifying events at State.

DISTANCES

JAI DAWSON (Dana Hills/SS) | 800/1600 | Posted the state's top 800m time in the class with his 1:54.78 to win the South Coast League FS title (U.S. No. 3). Won all five races at that distance. Also won his only 400 (52.12) and 1600 (4:21.72/CA No. 3).

YUTAKA ROBERTS (El Camino/CC) | 800 | Ran PR of 1:56.37 at the Central Coast Section Trials for CA No. 3, U.S. No. 7. Placed seventh at the CC Finals (1:57.75). Also ran the 400 at CC Trials (50.80/CA No. 7).

COLIN SAHLMAN (Newbury Park/SS) | 1600 | Ran 4:19.32 PR for 1600m to place 12th at the CIF-SS Division 1 prelims, the only freshman among 46 who qualified. Ran 4:16.44 for the mile at Arcadia, a time that ranks U.S. No. 1 in the class. Also went 1:57.10 in the 800m for third at the Ventura Co. Championships, CA No. 4 and U.S. No. 11.

KELLEN STEPLIGHT (Vacaville/SJ) | 1600 | Placed 18th in 1600m qualifying at the State Meet with a 4:16.19 PR that ranks CA No. 1 in the class and U.S. No. 2 in the class. Placed third at the Sac-Joaquin Section Masters meet in the 1600 (4:21.09). His 1:55.96 PR for 800m ranks CA No. 2 and U.S. No. 6. Also ranks third in the class for 3200m (9:32.22). He is one of only six 2022 boys to qualify to compete in an individual Friday night qualifying events at State.

JADEN WILEY (Hart/SS) | 3200 | State leader in the class for 3200 (9:26.35) for fifth in the Foothill League varsity final as the only 2020 among 26 runners. That time ranks U.S. No. 9 in the class. 


JUMPS

QUINCY CRAIG (Mater Dei/SS) | Long Jump | His 21-10.75 (1.8) for third at league finals extended his season. He advanced all the way to the SS-D2 finals where he placed eighth. 
CALEB FULLER (Vista Murrieta/SS) | Pole Vault | Top-ranked in the class with a13-03 clearance for fourth in the varsity league final. That was a six-inch PR and his first vault over 13 feet in seven meets.
CHRISTOPHER RANDOLPH (Eisenhower/SS) | High Jump/Long Jump/Triple Jump | Ranks among the top three in the class in all three jumps. Cleared PR of 6-04 at the CIF-SS D1 Prelims to rank CA No. 1. His 44-06.50 (1.1) placed fifth in the the triple jump at D1 Prelims ranks CA No. 2. And his long jump PR of 21-05 (nwi) ranks CA No. 3. 
JC STEVENSON (Great Oak/SS) | Triple Jump | Next in the long line of Stevenson Family triple jumpers, JC's PR of 45-03.75 to win the FS competition at the Inland Empire Championships (second-best mark of the meet), ranks CA No. 1 and U.S. No. 12 in the class for all-condition marks.

THROWS

NICK GODBEHERE (Shafter/CS) | Discus Throw/Shot Put | CA No. 1 in the class in the discus (153-11), which ranks U.S. No. 23 in the class. Also threw 150-plus at Battle of Central Cal (152-11), CIF-CS South Area (152-09.50) and CIF-CS (150-06) to place eighth in the varsity final as the only freshman among 17 qualifiers. Shot PR of 47-03 ranks CA No. 6 in the class.

CADE MORAN (Murrieta Mesa/SS) | Discus Throw/Shot Put | His 52-06 PR in the shot put for second at the Southwestern League final ranks CA No. 1 in the class and U.S. No. 9 in the class. Discus PR of 148-04 ranks No. 4 in the class. 

ANDREW TROTTIER (Liberty/CS) | Discus Throw/Shot Put | Ranks No. 2 in the class in the shot put (49-04) and third in the discus (151-03). On the national list of 2022 boys, Trottier's shot put mark ranks No. 24 and his DT mark ranks No. 28.
